About DataOceans:
DataOceans is a growing technology company with a dynamic team of ~50 employees. As we continue to scale, we’re looking for a dedicated HR and Finance Operations Manager to help strengthen our internal operations, support our people, and streamline key HR and finance functions.
This hybrid role requires in-office presence to be accessible and responsive to local employees while also allowing flexibility for remote work.
About the Position:
This is a hands-on and strategic role, ideal for someone who thrives in fast-paced, scaling environments. You’ll be responsible for managing and maturing employee management, review and engagement programs, benefits administration, and certain day-to-day finance operations, ensuring both compliance and a strong employee experience. As the primary person managing the HR function, the HR and Finance Operations Manager will work directly with the President and the executive leadership team and other leaders to evolve employee performance review and other HR initiatives. The position will report to the company President and will work closely with the Director of Finance on assigned finance functions.
Key Responsibilities:
Human Resources (HR):
- Manage day-to-day HR operations including onboarding, offboarding, and employee lifecycle processes
- Administer and evolve benefits programs (health, dental, vision, life, 401K, leave, wellness, etc.) including benefit compliance
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations
- Support performance review cycles, employee engagement initiatives, and HR policy updates
- Serve as an accessible point of contact for in-office staff and remote staff
- Develop programs to engage with and support remote employees. Design and host remote team building events. Schedule and work with executive leadership to conduct companywide meetings.
- Schedule and provide virtual drop-in hours.
- Conduct meetings for virtual employees to overview benefits with remote employees.
- Oversee employee continuing education programs working directly with managers to coordinate and track quarterly activities.
Finance Operations:
- Manage payroll processing and compliance, in partnership with external vendors or internal systems
- Assist with accounts payable/receivable workflows, expense reports, and vendor management
- Help improve internal financial processes and controls
Qualifications:
- 6–8 years of combined experience in HR and finance operations, preferably in a tech or fast-growing company
- Solid knowledge of HR practices, employment law, and benefits administration
- Familiarity with core financial operations such as payroll, expense tracking, and budgeting
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; proactive, entrepreneurial, comfortable driving for clarity, ability to maintain confidentiality and build rapport with team members at all levels of the organization
- Comfortable navigating both strategy and execution
- Experience with HRIS/payroll systems and financial tools (e.g., Gusto, QuickBooks, Excel)
- Bachelor’s degree in HR, Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred
